The ATP is a leading national credential for tax practitioners who have a thorough knowledge of the existing tax code and the preparation of individual tax returns with an expertise in comprehensive 1040 issues including supporting schedules, self-employed returns, and ethics.
ACAT’s Mission is to accredit professionals who have demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices, and ethical standards of accounting, taxation, information technology and related financial services in order to maintain the highest level of service to the public; to promote the value, recognition and use of the ACAT credentials; to protect the ability to use the earned credential.
The Council seeks to identify professionals in independent practice who specialize in providing financial, accounting and taxation services to individuals and small to mid-size businesses. Professionals, such as Gunwel Associates Inc., receive accreditation through examination and maintain their accreditation through commitment to a significant program of continuing professional education and adherence to the Council’s Code of Ethics and Rules of Professional Conduct.

The National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP)
The NAPT provides support, education, products, and research services to United States tax professionals. Members of the NAPT work at offices that assist over 11 million tax payers with tax preparation and planning. The average NATP member has been in the tax business for over 20 years and holds a tax/financial designation and/or a college degree. NATP has more than 20,000 members nationwide. Members include individual tax preparers, enrolled agents, certified public accountants, accountants, attorneys, and financial planners.

National Society of Accountants (NSA)®
NSA provides national leadership and helps its members achieve success in the profession of accountancy and taxation through the advocacy of practice rights and the promotion of high standards in ethics, education, and professional excellence.

National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC)®
The NGLCC is the exclusive, third-party certification body that verifies that eligible businesses are majority-owned by LGBT individuals, and subsequently grants LGBT Business Enterprise® (LGBTBE®) designation to such businesses as part of its LGBT Supplier Diversity Initiative.
NGLCC supports and advocates for diversity and inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT)-owned businesses. NGLCC works to ensure implementation of pro-business, LGBT-inclusive policies at the federal, state, and local levels of government.
Businesses must meet the following criteria for NGLCC certification:
- Majority (at least 51%) owned, operated, managed, and controlled by an LGBT person or persons who are either U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents
- Exercises independence from any non-LGBT business enterprise
- Has its principal place of business (headquarters) in the United States
- Has been formed as a legal entity in the United States
